People
The term "People" as it applies to the People, Process, Technology, & Data (PPTD) Framework refers to the importance of governance, organizational leadership, culture, and finally the knowledge skills and ability (KSA) of the workforce as it applies to effectively adopting and implementing digital transformation technologies. The governance structure must be a solid platform where the organization examines the role of leadership at all levels of the organization. This is a must do to ensure the solution the organization accepts as the way forward to achieve operational success, is embraced, and enforced at all levels of leadership within the organization. The organization’s examination and understanding of the culture within the organization is also critical. It is paramount that all organization who are adopting and implementing digital transformation technologies, build a culture that embraces change. Understand what motivates the organization’s team and defining what can be done to set realistic expectations for both employees and leaders when change occurs is important. This also includes identifying any reasons for internal resistance to change and working to overcome those challenges before they become potential barriers to the adoption and implementation process. The final and one of the most significant is the identification of the knowledge, skills, and ability (KSA) of the workforce. Building a team of personnel who contextually understand the goal that needs to be achieved and who have the requisite knowledge, skills, and ability (KSA) to get the organization where it needs to be is important. This means effective collaboration of leadership, key stakeholders, and workforce with the right KSA that will put in the needed efforts to ensure that all barriers to adopting and implementing digital transformation are mitigated.

Process
The term "Process" as it applies to the People, Process, Technology, & Data (PPTD) Framework, refers to Strategies, Plans, Policies, Governance, Procedure, Compliance, and actions that come together to allow the organization to achieve effective adoption and implementation of digital transformation. Essentially, processes are repeated actions that, in theory, should yield the same outcome regardless of who carries them out. The "how" element is primarily defined by the “Process” – How will the organization achieve its intended outcome? How can people and technology be leveraged to address the issue in business processes.
Data
The term "Data" as it applies to the People, Process, Technology, & Data (PPTD) Framework, refers to the process of development of a data strategy, which will drive the organization’s data governance and data management needed to have a data-centric enterprise ecosystem. The organization ability to effectively establish data foundation and analytics capabilities to ensure availability, usability, integrity, and security based on internal data standards and regulations that also monitor data usage. Data Governance must include the data stewards (individuals responsible for the data ecosystem), data infrastructure, governance framework, automated policies, standards, and processes.

Technology
The term "Technology" as it applies to the People, Process, Technology, & Data (PPTD) Framework, refers to researching and defining the technological solutions that will effectively become capability enhancement, unique to the organization’s use case. There must be consideration to ensure that the technology solutions are academia and industry best practices. Due diligence must be given to ensure that along with the selection of technology solutions to fit the organization’s use case, analysis must be done to ensure that the most effective infrastructure is available to ensure a successful implementation.

When an organization is going through the process of adopting and implementing digital transformation technologies the People, Process, Data, & Technology (PPDT) Framework will provide the best means of addressing any barriers that may be encountered during the process. The PPDT Framework provides a combined approach to deal with the legs of the four-legged stool digital transformation in a holistic manner ensuring there is not a siloed approach, providing the most effective way forward to success.
